Mozart - Bassoon Concerto, K. 191
Florence Price - Adoration for Strings
Mozart - Symphony No. 40 in G minor
It is our pleasure to feature Paragon Philharmonia’s own Principal Bassoon and Executive
Director, Jeff Ward, performing Mozart’s bassoon concerto.
Florence Price’s little gem, Adoration, is performed in numerous formats, featuring various solo
instruments or ensembles. All are exceptionally beautiful. We present the version for strings.
The 40th Symphony is one of Mozart’s most well-known and greatly admired works, and one of
only two symphonies he wrote in a minor key (both of which were in G minor!). Mozart later
revised it to include clarinets; this is the original version. Particular aspects of the work inspired
significant composers, including Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn and Brahms. It
is a masterpiece of foreboding urgency and passion.
Please join Maestra Burns and the musicians of Paragon Philharmonia for hors d'oeuvres and drinks provided by Amanada Seitz catering following the performance!
